Detric L. Kemp, Esquire

Detric L. Kemp, Esquire has been practicing law in Frederick County for more than 6 years. Mr. Kemp joined the firm as an associate attorney in January of 2016 and was named partner in the fall of 2019. Mr. Kemp received his Juris Doctor Degree from Howard University School of Law and is licensed to practice law in Maryland and the District of Columbia. His experience includes representing clients before the District Courts of Maryland, Circuit Courts of Maryland, and the Maryland Court of Special Appeals. Mr. Kemp is the 2020 Chair for the Young Lawyer Section of the Bar Association of Frederick County, a 2019 graduate of the Maryland State Bar Association’s Leadership Academy Class, and a Board Member of the Weinberg Center of the Arts.  He was recognized in 2020 by the Super Lawyers organization as a 2020 rising star.   

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Kemp worked for CACI on a contract with the Environmental Enforcement Division of the Department of Justice. One of the cases he worked on resulted in multi-billion-dollar award to the United States government. Mr. Kemp also served a one-year term as a judicial law clerk at the District Court of Maryland for Howard and Carroll counties. There, he worked for seven judges and responsibilities included but were not limited to conducting legal research and drafting legal memoranda. 
 
While Mr. Kemp considers Frederick his home and is very active in the Frederick community, he is a Louisiana native. Mr. Kemp received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Dillard University in New Orleans, Louisiana. In 2020, Dillard University awarded Mr. Kemp with its 40 under 40 award, which is bestowed to 40 graduates under the age of 40 who are making a difference in their community and the world.
